My Mind Block = Level 15
Environment Block = Level 12
Social Block = Level 4
…
When my life feels unbalanced, I default to optimizing my reflection practices or upgrading my environment.
What I don’t do enough is expand my social circle.
Balance in Baselines: The Minimum Viable Requirement for Our Life Blocks
The question I’ve been asking myself lately: “what is the minimum viable requirement for my healthy life blocks?”.
Life blocks are the core categories that we choose to divide our lives into. Mine are: mind, body, environment, social, finance, recreation, and operations.
Problem
I notice that some life blocks come easier to me than others. But I’ve noticed that because of that, I’m more likely to default to optimizing those easier and already thriving blocks, instead of ensuring that all other baselines are being met.
Prediction
By identifying what a baseline level of healthiness looks like for each of my life blocks, I’ll be able to recognize and react more easily if one of them gets neglected.
My Baseline Audit
✅ Mind: My daily score averages over 80%
✅ Body: I feel healthy
✅ Environment: I have a place where I feel safe, comfortable, and in control
✅ Recreation: I feel a strong pull toward something with the potential for growth
✅ Finance: I have enough money to sustain my current lifestyle
✅ Social: I routinely connect with my favourite people
✅ Operations: I’ve achieved baseline in all of my life blocks
When life feels out of balance, it could be worth reminding ourselves that the key to balance is often in the basics. The Baseline Audit is a way of questioning whether we should be optimizing a healthy block or repairing a faltering one.
