💪🏽 My Favourite Lifestyle Changes of the Month
1, 2, 3 Years Ago from Today
I configured my calendar to show me my life 1, 2, and 3 years ago from each day. I’ve found it to be a refreshing way to appreciate the progress I’ve made through the years. It’s also become a daily tool I use to reflect on how I can try to make each day better than its predecessors.
North Stars
Overtime, I’ve been collecting a list of north stars/values I like to use as trustworthy defaults to guide a lot of the decisions I make (ex. “Prioritise creativity and ideation over expertise”). I had written them down in a digital spot that I visit frequently, but this month I took the time to memorise them in an attempt to truly internalise them.
Make Predictions, Not Goals
Mindset shift: make predictions, instead of goals. Anytime I start a new personal mission now, I like to make a list of predictions about likely side effects and outcomes. I’ve found it to be a lot more intrinsically motivating than my previous habit of listing out what I hope to achieve. I also find that it guides me to having an “if, then” mindset (ex. ”if I do this and this, then this is likely to eventually occur”). To me, this sort of forecasting feels more grounded in reality than hope, which as a result, helps me to visualise and follow through with projects.
Capturing TV Clips
I’ve been watching YouTube on my tv lately and I started taking out my phone and video recording clips I’d like to remember. It’s been a really handy way of fulfilling my goal of building out stronger capture habits. At the end of each week, I go through my recordings and try to find an appropriate spot for them in my second brain.
💬 My Favourite Words of Wisdom of the Month
On Desire
Oftentimes, to say “I don’t have time” is just another way of saying “I don’t want to”.
On Valuing Imagination
Don’t make the mistake of overvaluing expertise over imagination.
On resilience to bad actors
You should build a system resilient enough so that you can comfortably give the keys to your greatest enemy.

🧑🎨 My favourite art genre of the month
ARToon • Examples found on Pinterest →
** I’m not actually sure what this type of fabulous art is called, so I’m calling it artoon as in ar (augmented reality) + toon (cartoon).

🤔 My Favourite Realizations of the Month
Escape Room Psychological Profiling
Analysing your behaviour and decision making choices in an escape room could be a fun and interesting way of psychologically profiling yourself. For example, it could offer insight into how well your decision making performs under time constraints or in collaboration with others.
Disliking Content
Worth acknowledging that disliking a piece of content could be attributed to your imminent internal state as opposed to the content itself. On occasion, I’ll notice myself disliking something at one point, only to revisit it in the future with a fresh appreciation.
On Procrastination
🔗 YouTube Video / Ali Abdaal [9:15]
If you find yourself procrastinating on something, then it is usually because of 1 of 3 blockers: obscurity (not fully understanding the process), anxiety (finding the process or potential outcomes daunting), or inertia (finding the momentum to get started).
💭 My Favourite Reflections & Questions of the Month
On Feelings
What are some feelings you’d like to experience for the first time or on command?
On Values
Reflect on why you enjoy your favourite content. What does it offer you? Can it reveal something deeper about what you currently value?
On Abundance
If I currently had an abundance of willpower and time, what would I do with it?

🧠 My Favourite Innovative Ideas of the Month
Character POV
Technology Idea
Using VR to provide a first person point of view of any character in a movie or show.
Soundtrack karaoke and charades
Game Idea
Everybody takes turns singing a song they know from a show or movie (whether it be the theme song or a notable song within a soundtrack). The person who’s able to guess the song source wins a point. Perhaps, anyone else who is able to eventually join in and sing along can also get a point.
Bridging Deepfake and VR Tech
Can the future of hyper-realistic VR avatar versions of ourselves be found by utilising deepfake technology.
