📚 My Favourite Reads of the Month
Show Your Work!
My effort to overcome my natural inclination to quietly remain in my own corner of the world is an ongoing one. But reading Show Your Work has been a helpful motivator. I'm making an effort to share my work more, so I'm hoping that this motivation will last 🤞🏽
LoversMagazine
Lovers Magazine is an online magazine for creative professionals. We put the spotlight on designers from a range of disciplines that are creating the future and touching the lives of many.
I've enjoyed reading so many of the interviews from LoversMagazine that I decided to use it's interview format on the bio of my website.
Dense Discovery
Weekly email with fresh discoveries at the intersection of technology, design, and culture.
I've been going through its archives and reading a few of the issues every morning. It's been a great resource for thought-provoking reads and helpful tools.
Good Design
We ask people who design and build Google products what they consider to be good design.
I really loved this as a reminder to find reasons to appreciate the design of everyday things in our lives.
🛠️ My Favourite Tools of the Month
JazzKeys, by Plan8
Typing synesthesia
It's not ideal if you need to do any heavy editing, but it's a fun tool if you're into stream of consciousness writing.
Eagle
A new way to collect, search and organize your image files in a logical way and all in one place.
Especially when compared to Pinterest's Chrome extension image overlay, I love Eagle's drag and drop feature.
Raindrop.io
All-in-one bookmark manager
I'd never felt the need to use a bookmark manager, since the bookmark bar in Chrome satisfied my basic needs, but I decided to give Raindrop.io a try. One of the biggest benefits I've found has been using it as an alternative to saving YouTube videos in their local Watch Later folder. It's been a good way to bypass their relentless autoplay feature and useful in determining which videos have been deleted or unlisted since the time I saved them.
