Identity formation isn’t usually something that happens overnight. It takes time. We start a new hobby or enter into a new profession and we don’t usually feel like we totally fit in until we’ve at least partially mastered our talent. But on occasion even after we’ve attained mastery, we stumble into a feeling of imposter syndrome — the feeling of doubt that our skills, talents, or accomplishments don’t truly fit with the identity that we are striving to achieve. How can we design our spaces to combat this?
